Happy new year everyone!
Sorry I/we haven't updated everyone on our Christmas, but since a lot of you were either there or we've talked to you since, we've been lazy.
Ben had a great Christmas. He got spoiled rotten and enjoyed every minute! Of course, Mommy and Daddy made a big faux pas and forgot to bring batteries to power his new train set, but we just hid that box from him and he forgot all about it! There was enough activity to distract him, what with all the food and books and toys around!
We had a great time in Brandon at (Uncle) Chris & (Auntie) Sheri's house. We also got to visit with my Grandma Lil, Aunt Nancy, Uncle Rico and Aunt Simone (very quickly I might add!), and Jason. On Christmas Day, Chris and Sheri played host to Sheri's parents, sister and grandparents as well, so it was a full house that day!
We came home on Boxing Day and had supper/gift opening with Susan (Gord's mom). By then, we had batteries, so Ben and Daddy (well, really Daddy) tore open the train set. It took Ben a day or two to warm up to the darn thing, but now it's all he wants to play with!
We had a birthday party to go to on the 27th, and I will say that Ben is really getting into birthday parties! I don't even want to tell him that his is coming up...he'll drive us crazy asking to open presents and go to the party.
I was back to work last week for a couple of days...it was pretty quiet though. Then on New Year's Eve, Mom and Dad came in and Dad and Gord tiled the backsplash. We then had rousing games of '31' and 'Hearts'. I sucked at both.
Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. Baby #2 is kicking me ALL the time now. I love it! I think I'm around 25 or 26 weeks...I'm expecting my due date to change after the ultrasound I had a few weeks ago...my next appointment is on Monday and we'll see what my OB says. Oh, and I don't want to be weighed - at all! I don't think that'll fly though... Kathy (Gord's sister) tells us that her and our nieces/nephews are doing great too! We FINALLY got to see some ultrasound pics of them - they're already adorably cute in all their twin-ny glory! Wait, we haven't even shown ultrasound pics to anyone...I'm a big, fat hypocrit (but I'm pregnant, so take the "big, fat" reference for what it's worth).
My brother has headed off to his next 6-month-posting in Gillam...I think it would be neat to be so secluded, but only for an hour or so. At least he has email...
later dudes,

Ha! C-pot! Why am I finding that so funny? Must be those crazy "pregnancy hormones". We are off to the doctor's next Monday as well - we'll have to compare notes. We can have a weigh-off! Twin B is my kicking baby - he/she is on top of poor Twin A and therefore easier to feel - though both of them did a BIG jump when they heard the lion roar at a movie preview for Narnia. They know to be afraid of lions. Or excited by them, I guess.
Off to nap, and then to think about Ben's birthday present (an empty box with lots and lots of layers of wrapping paper?).
oops - me again. I know I shouldn't discuss baby names with you guys in case of overlap leading to never-ending family feud - BUT! I have had an epiphany! 2 names that will work for either boys OR girls and that I like and that go together without being too cute! Ready?...
Wasabi and Pistachio! What do you think?
How about Banjo and Sprocket?
OMG - what are the chances that Wasabi and Pistachio are the names we've picked?
Although we would call give them different nicknames...wabi and pico?
So are these names you've actually picked, or some crazy cravings you're having right now?
Garth, one of Ben's nicknames is Banjo (his Uncle's idea), so that is out of the question. I DO like Sprocket though...Sprocket and Dieter...
Those are the names that I tell people who ask if I have chosen names yet. It stops them in their tracks! I cannot believe that Banjo is already taken in our family. Surely we could have a Banjo Sheppard and a Banjo Bak? By the way, Greg is campaigning to combine our last names. Not in the traditional hyphenated sense, but in an actual combination. He wants the SH from Sheppard and the ak from Bak. Shak. To be pronounced "Shock". Hm.
2 words - Ratchet and Clank
I can't stay away from this blog today - could I be hovering in hopes of seeing some ultrasound pictures? Gordon, I wanted to mention that Ratchet is the name of a character in one of my favourite books of all time, The Canning Season by Polly Horvath. You should get that book from the library and read it, I think you would find it most amusing. Love from your friendly sisterly librarian. p.s. there are 2 copies checked in at the Milennium Library and one copy checked in at the Louis Riel branch.
And *I* think that you should go and buy a TV, and a playstation 2, and purchase the series of Ratchet and Clank games! (There are lots in stock at the Future Shop near your house) :)
Seriously, I'll check it out when I'm done all my christmas books!
