This kitchen is becoming a blog of a job.

Well, weekend 1 down. Yikes. I can't even begin to gather the energy needed to write a full blog, so let me give you a statistical run-down of the weekend:

Number of hours working: 41 (minus breaks for food)
Number of inches the cabinets overshot the doorway in the kitchen due to 'technical measurement difficulties': 6.5
Number of work hours required to move said doorway left 6.5 inches: 3 (and counting)
Number of tiles installed: about 120
Bags of thinset: 4
Number of cat prints in the thinset before all cats locked in laundry room: 8
Number of beers drunk: 6
Number of attempted beers drunk with serious 'cap still on' failure: 1
Number of trips to Home Depot: 11 (yes, I'm serious)
Number of water leaks: 2 (1 major, 1 minor)
Number of times somebody touched a hot copper pipe and said 'ow': about 150
Number of times Gord almost soldered his eyeball by standing directly under the joint he was soldering: 5
Number of calls to Ikea: 2
Number of damaged cabinets: 1
Number of incorrect colour cabinets: 1
Number of people at Ikea who seem to care about this: 0

To sum up, we did not get finished this weekend - but not for lack of trying. (Again, a HUGE thank-you to Bill for his Herculean efforts over the weekend.) Tune in next weekend for the thrilling conclusion (we hope). Same blog time, same blog channel.

Those Ikea jerks just don't care. Ten seconds after they've got your money they've converted it to hookers and Peruvian cocaine. This results in a rather inflexible return policy.

I would take either of those in exchange.

And like Ikea cabinets, at least one of those things could be nailed against your wall.

Geez - these comments are quickly deteriorating to things I need not know about!

I don't know for sure but I think I am getting more fun out of the comments than the blog!

Number of times your sister was glad that when her new fridge came it fit in the fridge spot even though she had measured the distance from floor to cupboard in front only and the floor slopes so badly that the distance from floor to cupboard is actually more than an inch and a half less at the back: 1

Number of times while reading your blog your sister was glad not to be redoing the entire kitchen: 437

At least when you re-do the entire kitchen if the fridge doesn't fit under the cabinet, you just move the cabinet up! :)

And it was me who tried to drink the beer with the cap on, btw.

You know, James and I were hoping to finish our basement soon...we could always use some help!! We could even buy you some beer in cans and there is a Home Depot about 5 minutes away :)

Okay Liz...Beer in CANS? I don't know why they even sell them like that!

As long as I can get to home depot and back in less than 15 minutes I can reno ANYTHING! (Or so I like to believe!)
