Well, another week has whizzed by without any blogging by these bloggers. Not much to tell! Let's see - what can we talk about?
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy comes out this weekend. After seeing the ads (and being a BIG fan of the books) I am afraid that I'm going to be dissapointed. I'll go see it anyway though!
Speaking of movies, Star Wars Episode III comes out May 19th. Let's hope it's better than episode II.
Speaking of OTHER movies, we finally put video of Ben that was on the computer on a DVD. We needed room to put more of our videos on the computer and clear off some tapes. It took just over 3 hours to compile and burn a 62 minute DVD (in high resolution though). We'll make some copies and send them along ASAP.
Ben's signing is coming along nicely. This morning he gave me the sign for 'All Done' when I said "All Done" when his toy stopped playing it's song. Ben was also trying to dance AND clap today - without much success. He was successul at being really cute though!
We are off to Brandon this weekend for Chris' social. Should be a good time - I'm hoping to win the poker table that Bill made for the occasion. (I've tried convincing people not to go so I have a better chance).
Not much more to tell. I have the sniffles - probably since I was wiping Ben's nose with my finger and then sharing his Cheerios. (This stuff really doesn't bother you when it's your own kid!) Hope I get better for the social!

Bloggedy bloggedy blog blog
Sorry folks...it's been a little dry around the blog lately! Where shall I start? Let's see...
Ben is getting to be such a little boy! It is really fun to be around him right now. He is starting to imitate things we do, which can be really funny sometimes (but mostly adorable). Ben absolutely loves to go outside. We have to watch him pretty close though - he tends to stick rocks in his mouth. Gord is more concerned about the choking hazard than the germ/dirt thing, whereas I feel equally concerned on both counts. Ben likes to play pat-a-cake and even tries "rolling the dough"; however, I've decided that Grandma Joan can't play these games/songs with him - she doesn't remember them very well and I don't want her to be teaching him the crazy stuff she was doing! Our little bug also has learned to blow kisses (it's still in the early stages, but sweet nonetheless) and he loves to feed himself with a fork. Mommy/Daddy/whoever sits beside him at the table may have to jab the food with the fork sometimes, but he readily eats off of it. In fact, he tends to eat more of his supper if he can use a fork or a spoon. So independent... And he dances, which involves him stomping his feet, like he's running in place. God it makes your heart melt!
I've also started reading a book called "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer for Toddlers" - it's the first parenting book I've read. There's a quiz in it to determine what your toddler's personality is. So I did the quiz and I decided that Ben was an "angel baby" (wishful thinking?!). Gord and I redid the quiz today, and it turns out that Ben is more of a mix of "angel baby" and "textbook baby". It'll be interesting what else comes out of this reading material! I'm sure that it'll determine that Ben is a genius! Dontcha think?
Ben has finally cut his first molar. Oy-yoy-yoy. There's a lot of snot involved with this, in case you were wondering/forgot. Only three and half to go (only a bit of the first one has cut through). And he's got a cold too (we think - it's hard to tell between teething snot and cold snot). And my allergies are flaring up. Yuck.
Gord and I shipped the kiddo off to Grandma Susan's yesterday so that we could get some yardwork/housework done without interruption. We got a lot accomplished (as our garbagemen will see tomorrow!) and Ben had a fun day at Grandma's house. Then today, we took a drive to Morden to see Grandma & Grandpa Potter. Their house looks really good - paint, tiling - Dad's been really busy!

Long Time No Blog (Again)
Hello! Sorry for the delay. The days just seem to be flying by!
Well, Ben seems to be recovered nicely. He just has a small bruise on his *Ahem!*. We have yet to take the bandage covering his incision off, but we will probably just wait until it falls off by itself.
We are pretty sure that Ben is getting one or more new teeth. We (meaning Ben and I) had a bad night last night. Someone was VERY grumpy and hungry - but he wouldn't eat! He just kept shoving his hands in his mouth. Poor little guy. (And poor daddy - I was fairly grumpy too by the time Ben's bedtime rolled around!)
Mommy was out for dinner last night. She was out with her friend at Buccachino's. Yum yum. For those not in the know, Buccachino's (which I hope I'm spelling correctly) is a little family run Italian restaurant on Waverly. Good food at reasonable prices! (Apparently they have a '2 can dine for $21 deal on Wednesday so Carrie and I will have to get a babysitter and go try it out some night.)
I've got a movie recommendation for you - It's called 'Bubba Ho-Tep'. Just take my word for it. Freakin' hilarious. I don't even want to tell you about since I think it would be funnier coming into it 'blind'.
Not much more to say. Ben and Mommy are coming in from outside so I'd better wrap this up.

Ben's got a blogburn!
I love hats. Any kind of hats. I try them on in stores all the time. Before I had Ben, I always said that any child of mine would be a hat wearer. You can see where this is going...
Ben is not a hat fan. We took him to the dog park this afternoon and I tried and tried to get his new hat on his head. I was finally successful, but in about two seconds, he had it off and had chucked it in the mud. He actually wore it for about three minutes (he was very distracted by some excited doggies!), but tore it off when he realized it was still perched on his bald (but beautiful) noggin. What will I do? I put some sunscreen on him today, but since he wouldn't keep his hat on, his head and face are a little bit pink (apparently I didn't use enough of the darn stuff). :(
Grandma and Grandpa Potter came in to see Ben yesterday and brought with them a bubble blowing lawn mower...a win-win combination! Ben loves to push things around and he also loves bubbles - what's not to like? There was also a wand in one of the bubble bottles, so we started blowing bubbles for Ben. It wasn't long before he was blowing bubbles himself. And it took even less time for him to stick the wand in his mouth to taste it for himself! Ben was also saying "bubb-bo" - how cute!
Ben has also started to "roll it" and "pat it" when we play pat-a-cake. He's getting into the copycat stage - whatever we do, he likes to try! This stage is so much fun...he seems to learn something new every day!
Otherwise, Ben is recuperating very well from his surgery. He never really seemed phased at all! I think it's a good sign!

Walkin' Blog
Well, Carrie and I just watched a doozie of a movie - Walking Tall with good ol' Dwayne Johnson (THE Rock). Needless to say, it sucked. (Although he did break a guy's forearm with a 4x4 cedar post. That was pretty cool.)
Ben had a good day with Mommy today. Other than the occasional small complaint, he was as good as new. Playing, talking and just generally making a mess was the order of the day. And napping. He napped for 3.5 hours this afternoon. It's hard to see much scrotal difference, as there is bruising and swelling down there but it's pretty obvious there is a ball down there. If you didn't want to know this, disregard the last sentence.
Not much else to tell. We went for a walk tonight - much to Ben's delight. He just talks and talks and talks as he rides in his wagon.
Well, I'm off to open and close the screen door. TTYL!

Our blog at the Hospital
Well, it's ten to six and we're back from the Hospital with a tired but healthy little man. The surgery went fine - although they were only able to bring down the left testicle. He now has an appointment for June 1 with two goals: An ultrasound to try to pinpoint the location of the right testicle and a checkup to make sure his left testicle is healthy and working properly.
Ben went into surgery at about 11:30 or so, and we went to the cafeteria to have some lunch and try not to worry too much. (By the way, I'm pretty sure I saw Kinny Lamba - but he seemed to be the center of attention of a bunch of doctors and I didn't want to wander over and interrupt.) The doctor came up at about 1:00 to tell us everything was O.K., and we were able to go see Ben in the recovery room at about 1:30. (He was perfectly happy until we got there, then he started crying. Go figure.) Anyways, only one parent was allowed to stay in there so Carrie got to rock Ben to sleep in her lap. We then moved him up to the normal ward where he slept for about another hour and then woke up - had a bottle of apple juice - and happily walked around pushing his own I.V. pole. (He was the hit of the ward). However, when we tried to change his diaper he FREAKED OUT and peed all over the bed! (It's good that he peed though. That's one of the things he had to do before he was allowed to leave.) We got him all bundled up and headed out - much to the delight of everybody else in the room, we're sure. (He was still freaking out). He was MUCH happier once we got to the car though - he was surrounded by familiar things.
We'll keep you posted as things progress - but everything is looking good so far. Ben is napping now and we're off to have dinner.

A Change of Plans. (Blog)
Well, there is a change in the schedule. Ben is now going for his surgery on Thursday of this week. They phoned us this morning to let us know that there was an opening in the schedule. Carrie's bosses were very understanding so we are going to get it done sooner - less worrying to do.
Ben was swimming again tonight! A point of interest - there were more daddies in the class tonight than mommies! I still won't do it though - I WON'T.

Fresh Air? Bloggin' good!
The weather has been great lately, save for a few splatterings of rain today. But they didn't last long, and sure didn't put a damper on our day!
We finally replaced our storm door today. And when I say we, I really mean my dad. Gord did his share, but he wouldn't have gotten far without Dad. Handy man, he is. It's such a pretty door! It's all glass, so now it looks like there's no door at all there. I've already had to clean it - darn kid keeps licking it!
Speaking of the kid, he sure had fun outside today! How do I know he had fun? Well, we went for a walk this evening, so when I pulled out his jacket, he didn't fight me one bit! He even held out his arms for me like a good little guy! This afternoon we took the infamous bubble machine (see previous post) outside and let the wind blow some bubbles around the yard. He had sticky bubble gunk all over his little bald head! And he didn't try to eat (as) many stones and leaves...progress is progress, ladies and gentlemen!

Crazy Blogging Blog Host
Well, I tried to blog yesterday - but the part of the blog system that actually allows you to post was not working. So I'll paste in yesterday's post here, and today's post is after yesterday's post.

Hello all! I just got crap from Mom for not blogging so I'd better get an entry in here. Yesterday was Ben's appointment with the urologist about his testicles. If you didn't know, Ben's testicles had not descended when he was born. This appointment was to see if they had descended by themselves (which we knew they hadn't) and what to do if they hadn't. The doctor was 98% sure she could feel the left testicle, and less sure that she could feel the right testicle as it is higher up in his abdomen. She said she could feel something, but she wasn't positive that it was a testicle.
Anywhoo, the long and the short of that is that Ben has to have surgery to pull down his little 'boys'. The first (and potentially the only) surgery is scheduled for April 25. The doctor will get the left one down, and if that goes extremely well she will get the right one. If it is a struggle to get the left one she will only do that one and see if it makes it (which takes about 6 weeks) before she goes after the right one. It'll be touch and go on the day. Needless to say we're a little bit nervous (although we both like the doctor and have all faith in her abilities) and a little bit upset. It's hard to think about much else (like Blogs). But everything should work out fine and it will be nice to see something in Ben's little sac.
Other than that not much is happening. Carrie's parents are coming in on Friday night and Carrie and I are going on a date! I'm going out with Marie while Carrie is going out with Thad. Just kidding! We are going to get to spend some quality time together for the first time in a few months. (Not that we need it - we love spending time with our Ben-Ben. It just seems like it's one of those things married parents are supposed to do! :) ) We aren't sure what we're doing yet - I guess we'll just play it by ear. I'm going to sign off. Today's Post:
Hello! Well, no date tonight. Bill and Joan did not need to come into the city tonight so we will be seeing them tomorrow. We did have a romantic night however, as we went storm door shopping! We bought a nice door with a neat retracting screen that should work well with all of our animals and child.
I bought Ben a little plastic swing for the backyard. I'll install it on the hated crabapple tree this weekend and we'll send pics as soon as we have them!
Speaking of pics, the pic above this post is for Auntie Kathy! She bought Ben those sexy boots, and I think we are going to get LOTS of use out of them. Ben loves it outside - so as soon as he learns how to walk properly in the boots he'll be let loose in the messy backyard.
Not much more to post. Carrie got her stamps today and as I am typing this she is piddling in the kitchen and having fun.

Holy lack of posts, Blogman!
Sorry about the drought there folks! It's been a while, so I'll try to catch you up on what's happening.
We had a great weekend this weekend. We headed out to Brandon again on Saturday on the way to Deloraine to celebrate Carrie's Uncle Dennis' 60th birthday party (more on that later). On our way out of town we bought Ben a wagon from Toys 'R' Expensive. They had a $90 2 child wagon on sale for $50! We got there early and were in a large crowd of people snapping them up. (This is what I tell Carrie to justify running in the store and punching that old lady.)
After that we headed out to Brandon. We had a nice visit with the Teneys and Grandma Lil - Aunt Nancy gave Carrie her prized meatball recipe so that we would have a dish to bring to the potluck that night. We also found out that Mitchell placed 4th out of 96 players at one of the local poker tournaments. He's turning into a regular Phil Gordon (but way less geeky).
We then picked up Chris and headed out to Deloraine. It was a great party with TONS of good home-cooked food and lots of family and friends out to share the day with Dennis. The life of the party (in our opinion) had to be Ben - he ripped every balloon he could reach off the tables, ran amok with his Great-Grandfather's cane and gave each and every guest "The Eye". He also loved watching the other older kids play. He didn't eat much dinner, but he DID eat 2 pieces of cake and had some punch. He also learned to drink apple juice out of a juice box (and root beer out of a used glass). Needless to say for half of the ride back to Brandon he was quite wiggy in his car seat. He kept laughing hysterically whenever Carrie or Chris or I would chuckle. What a ham.
For the past two days Ben has gone for walks in his new wagon and he LOVES it. He talks, points, kicks his feet and has a great time as we walk around.
Tonight was Ben's first swimming lesson of his second class. He was able to participate quite a bit more this time as opposed to being dragged around the pool for half an hour. He also BLEW BUBBLES! Very, very cute. I would take pictures but people are not supposed to take pictures anymore at public pools (to avoid child porn). Isn't this a wonderful, happy world we live in?
I am back at school - feels like I was away for a long weekend. Oh well. My job still kicks butt.

We had a great weekend this weekend. We headed out to Brandon again on Saturday on the way to Deloraine to celebrate Carrie's Uncle Dennis' 60th birthday party (more on that later). On our way out of town we bought Ben a wagon from Toys 'R' Expensive. They had a $90 2 child wagon on sale for $50! We got there early and were in a large crowd of people snapping them up. (This is what I tell Carrie to justify running in the store and punching that old lady.)
After that we headed out to Brandon. We had a nice visit with the Teneys and Grandma Lil - Aunt Nancy gave Carrie her prized meatball recipe so that we would have a dish to bring to the potluck that night. We also found out that Mitchell placed 4th out of 96 players at one of the local poker tournaments. He's turning into a regular Phil Gordon (but way less geeky).
We then picked up Chris and headed out to Deloraine. It was a great party with TONS of good home-cooked food and lots of family and friends out to share the day with Dennis. The life of the party (in our opinion) had to be Ben - he ripped every balloon he could reach off the tables, ran amok with his Great-Grandfather's cane and gave each and every guest "The Eye". He also loved watching the other older kids play. He didn't eat much dinner, but he DID eat 2 pieces of cake and had some punch. He also learned to drink apple juice out of a juice box (and root beer out of a used glass). Needless to say for half of the ride back to Brandon he was quite wiggy in his car seat. He kept laughing hysterically whenever Carrie or Chris or I would chuckle. What a ham.
For the past two days Ben has gone for walks in his new wagon and he LOVES it. He talks, points, kicks his feet and has a great time as we walk around.
Tonight was Ben's first swimming lesson of his second class. He was able to participate quite a bit more this time as opposed to being dragged around the pool for half an hour. He also BLEW BUBBLES! Very, very cute. I would take pictures but people are not supposed to take pictures anymore at public pools (to avoid child porn). Isn't this a wonderful, happy world we live in?
I am back at school - feels like I was away for a long weekend. Oh well. My job still kicks butt.

A fun, long, blogging day.
Well, today was the day to shop! After Ben got up (at 9:30!) and had breakfast we went to the mall and met Grandma! We had a fun time shopping at the mall - Ben got some new pants and a seat to go on Daddy's bike! Now we just need a helmet and we're all set. Grandma also spoiled Ben with a puzzle - we're going to try it tomorrow.
We came home and Ben had a HUGE nap. Then after lunch (Ben ate an ENTIRE grilled cheese sandwich) we got ready and picked up Mommy from work. We met our friends (Michelle, Eric, Bailey and Zack) at McDonalds where Ben had ANOTHER grilled cheese sandwich and his first french fries (which he didn't like very much). We played in the playland for a bit and headed back to the mall.
THIS time at the mall Ben got a "Gazillion Bubble Machine". It's this neat little thing that blows tons of bubbles (and yes, it runs on batteries). When we got back from the mall (after Mommy got locked on the wrong side of the doors at the Bay when they closed) we tried out the amazing bubble machine. Ben loved it - and he LOVED watching Charlie snap at the bubbles. However, when we turned it off, Ben ran towards Charlie and SLIP! - his feet went out from under him and he smacked the back of his head on the kitchen floor. He's okay, but we won't be bubbling again until we can go outside!
After this episode we tried on the new boots he got from Auntie Kathy. (Sorry Kath, we didn't get a picture YET). He hobbled around on them for about 3 steps and then started crying. We'll get some more practice soon.
All in all it was a fun day. Tomorrow I'll go about cleaning the crap out of Charlie's dog run. That should be less fun than today. Bye all!

Spring Break adventures!
Where did Gord leave off? Saturday, right? So Sunday, we hosted Easter dinner. Of course, Gord's mom brought everything over and cooked it here, so we basically provided our house. That's the way I like it - next to no work involved! Kathy, Greg, Sandra (Kathy's friend) and Susan were here and we had a great time. Ben was very entertaining, as usual! He charmed his auntie into pushing him on his car - he loves that!
Daddy's been home with Ben this week and they're having a ball! Every day when I get home, there are markers everywhere! Ben even ends up in matching shirts and pants (this is quite a feat for Daddy!).
Mother Nature is sending us some mild weather these days. It's been kinda rainy, but it gets rid of the snow, so we'll take it! Now the city just looks dirty. Winnipeg is so pretty in the spring!
Kathy and Greg flew out tonight, much later than scheduled though! I guess the weather must be wreaking havoc somewhere. It was a short visit, but we sure had fun with them! They bought Ben a really cute pair of yellow rubber boots. Now he can splash around in puddles and get mucky! What else are aunties and uncles for if not to spoil their nieces and nephews!

What a great blogging day we had!
Well, we have had a busy couple of days! Yesterday we went over to my Mom's place and had a YUMMY dinner with Mom, Kathy and Greg - after which we had a controversial game of Trivial Pursuit (there was no clear winner). Fun!
Today we took a day trip out to Brandon to visit with some family of the Potter persuasion. We got to see Bob and Sue and their fantastic kids (Taylor, Megan and Brett). They are such nice kids. While we were there Brett did a somersault for the first time! We also got to see Taylor and Megan do the splits. *Ouch* I figure I could do that ONCE - you could then Bronze me in that position. We then went over to Aunt Nancy's and had a great visit with Nancy, Great Grandma and the boys. Ben got a huge scratch on the back of his head from Stimpy the Cat! That'll teach him to pester a cat!!!
Ben was a great little bug today. He played happily all day both with the other kids and by himself. He even had kisses for Nancy and Great Grandma!
One of the other high points of the day was getting to meet Chris and Sheri's new dog, Wicket. He's the puppy in the picture above this post. He is the cutest little thing ever! Ben loved him - he was just the right size.
Charlie was a good girl today too. She got to stay at Chris' new house for the day and she didn't destroy anything! The house has a fantastic yard for dogs. Charlie had a blast plomphing through the snow and running around the yard.

Oh no - Carrie's blogging again!
Carrie reporting for duty! All's well here at MTS (I'm blogging during my lunch break - tsk tsk tsk)! Hope all is well at your respective places of work!
Ben is now on his third day at home with Grandma Susan. Alexander (daycare buddy) is still sick - he was spiking a fever yesterday! So we made the responsible parental decision to keep Ben away from a very sick Alexander. And actually, he won't be going to the babysitter's next week 'cause it's spring break! Ben will spend his days tiring Daddy out instead of Grandma or Cherise!
Work is going well - I really like it, now that I'm a bit more settled in. We're gearing up for a busy time again - quarter end! Whoo-hoo! And my manager is leaving, throwing a wrench into everything.
I am so excited for this weekend! Not only is Gord's sis and bro-in-law coming in from Ottawa tonight and staying till Tuesday, my friend Stacy is coming to Winnipeg from Minneapolis and we're getting together with our friend Debbie (who just had a baby at the end of January) and her kiddos for a visit! Awesome stuff!
Chris and Sheri get their puppy tomorrow...all the way from Calgary! It's a Havenese-ShihTzu cross - they're still trying to decide on a name though. He's soooo cute you just wanna roll him up and smoke him! (Get it...he's a Cuban dog...!?)
Here are a few things that Ben is doing now:
- will go get a book if you ask him to
- will then turn his back to you, back up and sit on your knee for you to read said book to him
- turns the pages (he's been doing this for months now)
- LOVES to play "roll the ball" - although he sometimes wants to sit on your knee and play "roll the ball" - roll it to who?
- will sit on command (learned this faster than Charlie)
- will bark ("hoo-hoo") if you ask him what Charlie says
- will sometimes do the sign for milk (if he's not too cranky)
- will chew on his socks if you leave them lying around (similar to Charlie - is this disturbing to anyone but me?)
That's about all I've got to say...except that we really enjoy getting comments - so make sure that you leave one!

I would like to Blog Cameron Diaz
Well, it's posting time again! As I'm writing this Carrie and I are watching the movie "The Sweetest Thing" with Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate and Selma Blair. This movie has very few redeeming features - but it does have Cameron Diaz in a string bikini for a large portion of the film.
ANYHOO - back on topic! Ben got watched by Grandma Susan today - the little boy at his daycare was very sick. We think grandma had a good time, but she was passed out from exhaustion when I got home. It's getting harder and harder to keep track of the little dude.
I recently got a hold of two CD's of favourite music from my past - Raising Hell by Run DMC and Flood by They Might Be Giants. I was singing in the car all the way to and from work today. Fun fun! So tonight I made an 'Old School Rap' mix CD - can't wait to drive to work so I can belt out some of those tunes.
I don't know if anyone watches the show "The Amazing Race" on TV. If you do, leave a comment. Next week's episode looks AWESOME, dudes.
In the spirit of Bridget Jones (the second movie of which was released on DVD today), I'll end off with a little checklist:

The Incredi-blogs
Hello again all. Gordo reporting in at the end of the weekend. We had a fun weekend! Carrie's parents came out on Saturday and took Carrie and I to Tony Roma's (THE place for ribs.) Ben tried some beer (just a wee drop on the end of my finger - no need to call CFS) and then made friends all over the bar area as we waited for our table. The food was delicious - even Bill's double starch side order (fries and mashed).
After dinner we all went back to our place (Carrie and I took a detour for McFlurries!) and watched The Incredibles. I had to go pass out about halfway through (3 pints is too much for lil ol Gordo). Finished watching it on Sunday - it's a really good movie! My favourite was Elastigirl. (Mmmmmm....Bendy).
We also spent part of today planning out a possible new kitchen from Ikea. We think we have something we like. If you want to see it in all of its 3D glory, go to www.ikea.ca and download their kitchen planner software (it's free - and free of viruses and adware). Then drop us an e-mail and we can e-mail you our plan. Fun! Of course, I can't buy anything without touching it first (that's how Carrie and I met) so this may necessitate a trip to Minneapolis to see the kitchen first-hand.
Carrie went to a stamping party today. She learned how with a minimal investment (minimal, my bum) she could create lots of cool stationery and scrapbook stuff with stamps. She STILL won't tell me how much she spent, but soon we will have stamps for the whole alphabet (UPPER and lower case) and another cute stamp collection (like a bug, a flower, some birthday stuff, etc.) I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!
Ben has started to clap. If you want to imagine what this looks like, dust your hands in the classic 'that takes care of that' gesture - speed it up so that your hands are out of control - then start hitting yourself in the mouth. YAY! Clappie-clappie.
Anyhoo - time to hit the sack. I'm trying to finish this book ("Foucault's Pendulum" by Umberto Eco) and I'm having a hard time due to the low IQ and attention span brought on by things like internet 'weblogs'. I'm almost at the end though - and then I can start a new book!
