Well, today was the day to shop! After Ben got up (at 9:30!) and had breakfast we went to the mall and met Grandma! We had a fun time shopping at the mall - Ben got some new pants and a seat to go on Daddy's bike! Now we just need a helmet and we're all set. Grandma also spoiled Ben with a puzzle - we're going to try it tomorrow.
We came home and Ben had a HUGE nap. Then after lunch (Ben ate an ENTIRE grilled cheese sandwich) we got ready and picked up Mommy from work. We met our friends (Michelle, Eric, Bailey and Zack) at McDonalds where Ben had ANOTHER grilled cheese sandwich and his first french fries (which he didn't like very much). We played in the playland for a bit and headed back to the mall.
THIS time at the mall Ben got a "Gazillion Bubble Machine". It's this neat little thing that blows tons of bubbles (and yes, it runs on batteries). When we got back from the mall (after Mommy got locked on the wrong side of the doors at the Bay when they closed) we tried out the amazing bubble machine. Ben loved it - and he LOVED watching Charlie snap at the bubbles. However, when we turned it off, Ben ran towards Charlie and SLIP! - his feet went out from under him and he smacked the back of his head on the kitchen floor. He's okay, but we won't be bubbling again until we can go outside!
After this episode we tried on the new boots he got from Auntie Kathy. (Sorry Kath, we didn't get a picture YET). He hobbled around on them for about 3 steps and then started crying. We'll get some more practice soon.
All in all it was a fun day. Tomorrow I'll go about cleaning the crap out of Charlie's dog run. That should be less fun than today. Bye all!

Spring Break adventures!
Where did Gord leave off? Saturday, right? So Sunday, we hosted Easter dinner. Of course, Gord's mom brought everything over and cooked it here, so we basically provided our house. That's the way I like it - next to no work involved! Kathy, Greg, Sandra (Kathy's friend) and Susan were here and we had a great time. Ben was very entertaining, as usual! He charmed his auntie into pushing him on his car - he loves that!
Daddy's been home with Ben this week and they're having a ball! Every day when I get home, there are markers everywhere! Ben even ends up in matching shirts and pants (this is quite a feat for Daddy!).
Mother Nature is sending us some mild weather these days. It's been kinda rainy, but it gets rid of the snow, so we'll take it! Now the city just looks dirty. Winnipeg is so pretty in the spring!
Kathy and Greg flew out tonight, much later than scheduled though! I guess the weather must be wreaking havoc somewhere. It was a short visit, but we sure had fun with them! They bought Ben a really cute pair of yellow rubber boots. Now he can splash around in puddles and get mucky! What else are aunties and uncles for if not to spoil their nieces and nephews!
Well that's all folks!

What a great blogging day we had!
Well, we have had a busy couple of days! Yesterday we went over to my Mom's place and had a YUMMY dinner with Mom, Kathy and Greg - after which we had a controversial game of Trivial Pursuit (there was no clear winner). Fun!
Today we took a day trip out to Brandon to visit with some family of the Potter persuasion. We got to see Bob and Sue and their fantastic kids (Taylor, Megan and Brett). They are such nice kids. While we were there Brett did a somersault for the first time! We also got to see Taylor and Megan do the splits. *Ouch* I figure I could do that ONCE - you could then Bronze me in that position. We then went over to Aunt Nancy's and had a great visit with Nancy, Great Grandma and the boys. Ben got a huge scratch on the back of his head from Stimpy the Cat! That'll teach him to pester a cat!!!
Ben was a great little bug today. He played happily all day both with the other kids and by himself. He even had kisses for Nancy and Great Grandma!
One of the other high points of the day was getting to meet Chris and Sheri's new dog, Wicket. He's the puppy in the picture above this post. He is the cutest little thing ever! Ben loved him - he was just the right size.
Charlie was a good girl today too. She got to stay at Chris' new house for the day and she didn't destroy anything! The house has a fantastic yard for dogs. Charlie had a blast plomphing through the snow and running around the yard.

Oh no - Carrie's blogging again!
Carrie reporting for duty! All's well here at MTS (I'm blogging during my lunch break - tsk tsk tsk)! Hope all is well at your respective places of work!
Ben is now on his third day at home with Grandma Susan. Alexander (daycare buddy) is still sick - he was spiking a fever yesterday! So we made the responsible parental decision to keep Ben away from a very sick Alexander. And actually, he won't be going to the babysitter's next week 'cause it's spring break! Ben will spend his days tiring Daddy out instead of Grandma or Cherise!
Work is going well - I really like it, now that I'm a bit more settled in. We're gearing up for a busy time again - quarter end! Whoo-hoo! And my manager is leaving, throwing a wrench into everything.
I am so excited for this weekend! Not only is Gord's sis and bro-in-law coming in from Ottawa tonight and staying till Tuesday, my friend Stacy is coming to Winnipeg from Minneapolis and we're getting together with our friend Debbie (who just had a baby at the end of January) and her kiddos for a visit! Awesome stuff!
Chris and Sheri get their puppy tomorrow...all the way from Calgary! It's a Havenese-ShihTzu cross - they're still trying to decide on a name though. He's soooo cute you just wanna roll him up and smoke him! (Get it...he's a Cuban dog...!?)
Here are a few things that Ben is doing now:
- will go get a book if you ask him to
- will then turn his back to you, back up and sit on your knee for you to read said book to him
- turns the pages (he's been doing this for months now)
- LOVES to play "roll the ball" - although he sometimes wants to sit on your knee and play "roll the ball" - roll it to who?
- will sit on command (learned this faster than Charlie)
- will bark ("hoo-hoo") if you ask him what Charlie says
- will sometimes do the sign for milk (if he's not too cranky)
- will chew on his socks if you leave them lying around (similar to Charlie - is this disturbing to anyone but me?)
That's about all I've got to say...except that we really enjoy getting comments - so make sure that you leave one!

I would like to Blog Cameron Diaz
Well, it's posting time again! As I'm writing this Carrie and I are watching the movie "The Sweetest Thing" with Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate and Selma Blair. This movie has very few redeeming features - but it does have Cameron Diaz in a string bikini for a large portion of the film.
ANYHOO - back on topic! Ben got watched by Grandma Susan today - the little boy at his daycare was very sick. We think grandma had a good time, but she was passed out from exhaustion when I got home. It's getting harder and harder to keep track of the little dude.
I recently got a hold of two CD's of favourite music from my past - Raising Hell by Run DMC and Flood by They Might Be Giants. I was singing in the car all the way to and from work today. Fun fun! So tonight I made an 'Old School Rap' mix CD - can't wait to drive to work so I can belt out some of those tunes.
I don't know if anyone watches the show "The Amazing Race" on TV. If you do, leave a comment. Next week's episode looks AWESOME, dudes.

The Incredi-blogs
Hello again all. Gordo reporting in at the end of the weekend. We had a fun weekend! Carrie's parents came out on Saturday and took Carrie and I to Tony Roma's (THE place for ribs.) Ben tried some beer (just a wee drop on the end of my finger - no need to call CFS) and then made friends all over the bar area as we waited for our table. The food was delicious - even Bill's double starch side order (fries and mashed).
After dinner we all went back to our place (Carrie and I took a detour for McFlurries!) and watched The Incredibles. I had to go pass out about halfway through (3 pints is too much for lil ol Gordo). Finished watching it on Sunday - it's a really good movie! My favourite was Elastigirl. (Mmmmmm....Bendy).
We also spent part of today planning out a possible new kitchen from Ikea. We think we have something we like. If you want to see it in all of its 3D glory, go to www.ikea.ca and download their kitchen planner software (it's free - and free of viruses and adware). Then drop us an e-mail and we can e-mail you our plan. Fun! Of course, I can't buy anything without touching it first (that's how Carrie and I met) so this may necessitate a trip to Minneapolis to see the kitchen first-hand.
Carrie went to a stamping party today. She learned how with a minimal investment (minimal, my bum) she could create lots of cool stationery and scrapbook stuff with stamps. She STILL won't tell me how much she spent, but soon we will have stamps for the whole alphabet (UPPER and lower case) and another cute stamp collection (like a bug, a flower, some birthday stuff, etc.) I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!
Ben has started to clap. If you want to imagine what this looks like, dust your hands in the classic 'that takes care of that' gesture - speed it up so that your hands are out of control - then start hitting yourself in the mouth. YAY! Clappie-clappie.
Anyhoo - time to hit the sack. I'm trying to finish this book ("Foucault's Pendulum" by Umberto Eco) and I'm having a hard time due to the low IQ and attention span brought on by things like internet 'weblogs'. I'm almost at the end though - and then I can start a new book!

I don't think I have any blog left.
Well, I'm finally feeling better. Quite a sudden little turn for the worse there. However, I'm getting back to my blogging duties.
Ben still has the sniffles. (He's had them for over a week now). We think they may have started as just 'teething boogers' but I'm sure he caught this cold (or I caught it from him). Poor little guy. Now Carrie is clogging up and starting to feel not completely well. It's not fun being a sick little family!
Not much news to relate - Kathy and Greg arrive in a week so we are looking forward to that. Right now we are watching 'The Punisher' on our movie channel. You know, they had a second chance to get this movie right after the Dolph Lundgren fiasco and they still got it wrong. Why can't they make a movie with just 2 hours of sensless killing? (Oh yeah, that was Kill Bill vol. 1!)
We also watched 'School of Rock' with Jack Black. It was cute! (I especially liked Summer, the little band manager.)
Well, this is a boring entry! I guess this is why blogs dry out. Anything youse guys want to hear about? Post a comment! Want to hear my rambling thoughts on why Robin Hood with Kevin Costner sucked? Gord coughed up a blog!
Hey all. Carrie here. I'm taking over blog duties while Gord is on his deathbed. See, Ben got a little cold and gave it to Gord while I was away. Gord, of course, gets the cold about 10 times worse than Ben had it. Isn't that the way it works, eh?
My weekend in Edmonton was great. Very relaxing and quiet. We power-shopped, saw a movie, gave ourselves facials...it was a girlie weekend alright!
Ben had a major wipeout last night. He was running around (naked) after his bath and slipped in some spilled water in the kitchen. He cried a lot. Then today at the babysitter's, he was standing up against the loveseat and his feet slipped out from underneath him, so he fell again today. Poor kid won't be able to see straight!
Oh, Ben loves eating peas. Take that, Grandpa Bill!
Well, I'll sign off. Ben says "hoo hoo" (we think he's trying to bark like a dog).

It's not easy being blog.
Well, I missed two days just like that! Yikes. Time flys by. Anyway, here's an entry.
It's been a pretty good couple of days. Carrie got to Edmonton O.K. (She wasn't flying with Jetsgo obviously!) They are having a good time and shopping like crazy.
Ben and I have been having fun together. I am pretty sure that Ben knows the work 'Book'. Mom and Sandra came over last night and while we were sitting around watching curling I said to Ben "Go and get a book." He immediately walked across the living room, found and picked up a book, brought it back to me and sat down on my lap for me to read it to him. He is tooooo cute!
Mom, Sandra and I played a game called 'Sequence' that I got for my birthday. We played two rounds, with Sandra kicking our butts both rounds.
Not much else to tell. I'm glad it's a weekend and I'm having fun spending time with Ben. I guess I'll just sign off by posting a picture of a monkey in a cowboy outfit for Garth so that he doesn't go to a different blog.

Damn Computers
So I was entering today's blog - and just getting near the end - when my laptop battery goes kaput on me. You would think that in this day and age a $3200 computer would be able to figure out that the battery is low and inform you of that fact. Hell, I've seen $10 calculators that do that.
ANYWAY, here we go again! Today was a nice day. Carrie was getting her hair cut and coloured at a place near Grant Park Mall so after school I got Ben and we went shopping for a while. Ben got a present - a new Baby Einstein video. This one is called Baby Da Vinci and it explains in a clear way that babies can understand the conspiracy surrounding the Holy Grail. (It really is about a couple of monkeys who demonstrate different parts of the body - get your mind out of the gutter, Liz).
Carrie's hair looks great!
Anyhoo, Charlie was out of her crate today for the WHOLE TIME I was at school. We started trying this again this week after the disaster of 1.5 years ago where she ate our couch. She's been a good dog so far. Carrie still wants to kill her however, since she will NOT stop attacking Frank. I think it's Frank's fault. Frank is not too swift (either mentally or physically) - if he would just RUN we wouldn't have a problem. Oh well. It's part of the mosaic that makes up our household.
Adult Ed Quote of the Day: We were converting British Pounds to Canadian currency in class today. When we got to the amount of pounds to convert (which was 2250 pounds) I say: "What a coincidence! That's also my weight!" A few people chuckle (there are always a few brownnosers) and we go on with the lesson. About 4-5 minutes later (really) a girl says "Wait a minute - you COULDN'T weigh that much!" Sigh. And I'm worried about teaching currency conversion?
Carrie goes to Edmonton on Friday (IKEA! IKEA!) so tomorrow's blog may be a little brief as we rush to get her ready. Her plane leaves at some stupidly early made up time that doesn't even exist (it's like at -33:67 banana hours) so she will probably be getting to bed early! Not me though. I must keep publishing for you faithful blog readers out there. (Are you out there?) (Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me...Is there anyone home?)

Carrie goes to Edmonton on Friday (IKEA! IKEA!) so tomorrow's blog may be a little brief as we rush to get her ready. Her plane leaves at some stupidly early made up time that doesn't even exist (it's like at -33:67 banana hours) so she will probably be getting to bed early! Not me though. I must keep publishing for you faithful blog readers out there. (Are you out there?) (Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me...Is there anyone home?)

Good News!
We just learned tonight that Chris' next posting for Hydro will be in Brandon! This is great news (as most of you already know Chris bought a house in Brandon with his fiancee who also lives in Brandon)! Congratulations to Chris - can't wait till he's out of our house. :)
Not much news of note today. We downloaded a new digital picture organizer named Picasa 2. All of you digital camera people may want to check this thing out. It organizes your pictures and helps you touch them up, etc. And it's free!
Nothing much else new here, so we'll sign off for today. I'm going to try to post a pic of Ben here, as this Picasa thing is supposed to work with this blog software...so here goes...

Holy blog this blogging is really blog.
Well, I'm going to try and keep up this blog.
Tonight we went to the mall and Ben made friends with the lady that cleans the tables in the food court. I bought 2 movies with a gift certificate that I got for my birthday from Bill and Joan: Forrest Gump and South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. (What's a buttfor?)
On the way home from the mall in the car Ben was laughing his head off. Then he started screaming in short, loud bursts. "AAAAA!" He was having so much fun! Why was he laughing? This joke:
"What did the (insert inappropriate race/nationality/stereotyped person here) do when he (or she) locked his (or her) keys in the car? Broke the windows to get his (or her) family out!!!"
Ben's reaction: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" "AAAAA" "AAAAAAA" He either loved the joke or I broke his brain.
Not much else to say about today, so I'll sign off until tomorrow. Hopefully we will get more pics up on the web soon. (I'm having webspace issues.)

Our new blog
Welcome to our new blog! Today we bought Ben a high chair and a convertible car seat. Yikes. Having kids means spending lots of $$$.
